The Story of Gardening

Concealed within our woodland, weave along The Viper, our exhilarating treetop walkway, before arriving at The Story of Gardening. Dig into the history of gardening throughout time, exploring the human impulse to shape beauty from the ground at our feet.

Gardens Throughout Time

The Story of Gardening reflects our deep-rooted passion for horticulture, celebrating the craft, creativity and history that shape the gardens we nurture today. Interactive exhibits, multi-sensory garden rooms and virtual reality pods transport visitors of all ages through global gardening traditions – and the world’s most famous gardens – which inspire our own Somerset landscapes.

Set within ancient woodland, this family-friendly exhibit invites you to explore the human connection to nature; seen through the lens of our life-long love of gardening.

Eat The Garden

The Story of Gardening café offers a comforting menu of light bites, from seasonal soups and sandwiches to savouries and wholesome snacks.
